PROJECT-SUPPORT SWITZERLAND

2023-75-CHE-SDG 3 / Association Centre Elisabeth

SDG 3: good health and well-being

Association Centre Elisabeth, Walchwil, Switzerland

Country / Place

Switzerland, Walchwil

Situated above Walchwil (Canton Zug) in the heart of Central Switzerland, the Centre Elisabeth offers an unobstructed view of Lake Zug and the Rigi mountain. The uniquely beautiful location and the multitude of worthwhile excursions nearby make the health centre worthwhile for everyone.

General

The Association Centre Elisabeth is a non-profit, politically, and denominationally neutral institution based in Walchwil in the Canton of Zug. It operates the recreation centre Elisabeth, which is designed to meet the specific needs of chronically neurologically ill people, especially those suffering from multiple sclerosis.

At the Centre Elisabeth, people who are dependent on care during their holidays can find peace and relaxation. Together with their caring relatives, they can treat themselves to some time off. For a few days, the partners get a welcome relief, because the daily care is taken over by the professional staff.

For years, the Centre Elisabeth has been a lively and empathetic meeting place for people with multiple sclerosis and other chronic neurological diseases. The "Solaris" house offers 15 wheelchair-accessible rooms for permanent guests with Spitex-based care services.

Around the health centre is a spacious, idyllic park with its own chapel. The park grounds and the surrounding meadows and forests invite to stroll and linger (wheelchair-accessible high trail). Fitness, wellness, and therapy facilities are also available.

The seminar rooms are ideal for conferences, further education, seminars, educational weeks, in short: for events of all kinds.

Care services

For a carefree stay at the centre, guests in need of care are provided with a tailor-made, Spitex-based care service. The guests decide which services they need. The trained nursing staff, the varied range of physiotherapy, and the specific training equipment, leave nothing to be desired. A doctor is also available if required. The stand-by service during the night and the emergency wristwatches give a feeling of security.

The care services and wheelchair-accessible infrastructure are especially geared to the needs of those affected by multiple sclerosis (main focus), general chronic neurological patients, those in need of therapy and recreation, relatives with a chronically ill or disabled family member, as well as group stays.

Project-support

Project: new therapy equipment

Multiple sclerosis patients are usually dependent on nursing support and cannot do without it during their stay at the centre. Since the nursing costs incurred are not fully covered by health insurance companies, the centre finances this shortfall via a nursing fund that is accumulated with donations.

In addition, new therapy equipment (patient lifters, standing trainers, etc. ) is needed from time to time, which is often financed by donations.
